"We would like to thank you so much for making our Martial Arts ceremony awards and dinner/dance event so very special. This was a very important black tie event in our calendar and had to be perfect due to VIP guests attending from all over the World! The whole evening went so well due to Sara’s attention to detail.
Nothing is too much trouble and the personal touches make such a difference. The food was delicious and served to perfection with outstanding service. Nothing at the Golden Lion is left to chance; if you miss something Sara will pick up on it. We have hosted and been to events all over the World and the standards at this venue are the one to beat!
All the staff were professional, helpful and kind but without being imposing. We would certainly use the Golden Lion for our future events."

"The rooms were great, our cosy family meal on the Saturday evening delicious and the whole day on Sunday ran like clockwork thanks to the well organised, pleasant and friendly staff who couldn't’t have been more helpful.
Our very special day started with a very good “full English” breakfast and ended at about 3.30 the next morning when the last of my family eventually crawled (and I mean that literally in one case) to bed!
All the staff were very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our anniversary lunch on Sunday was delicious and, without exception, all our guests were impressed with both the quality and the quantity of the food. The lady “running” the lunch was so helpful and organised us beautifully!
I would just like to single out Dawn and say a special thank you to her – she made us all feel very much at home and looked after our every need with a permanent smile – nothing phased her and my family were delighted with her “service with a smile” at breakfast on Monday morning – especially as we were all feeling a little fragile!

"The Golden Lion proved to be a great venue to celebrate together with family and friends following the Christening of our Son on 20th February 2011.
The whole day was successful and it takes a good team to make this happen, The Golden Lion certainly have a brilliant team. Our initial visit was welcoming & relaxed and we were given plenty of time to discuss our arrangements.
On the actual day we arrived to find everything in place, tables looking lovely, with friendly and helpful staff who were attentive throughout the afternoon.
The hot buffet was of excellent quality and extremely generous portions, we had 95 guests which included children. We would not hesitate to recommend the Golden Lion, our thanks to all the experienced staff who worked so hard to ensure the smooth running of the afternoon.

"We both felt we had to write today to thank you and your team at the Golden Lion for organising the wonderful celebration we had for the Christening Party yesterday. The room and the tables looked pristine and every single person commented on the fabulous food which was presented so beautifully.
The starters of smoked salmon and Melon with Grand Marnier were a perfect beginning to the meal, then the succulent carvery buffet of Roast Beef and Roast Turkey with all the accompaniments and vegetables was just so tasty and hot (which is unusual these days) And what can I say about the desserts, the Chocolate truffle (which was absolutely delicious) and the sticky toffee pavlova which was also extremely popular.The service was second to none and the young man on the bar was just so pleasant.
I was also just so impressed with the way you too got stuck in to ensure everything went like clockwork. Everything was just perfect, so thank you so much to you all the team at the Golden Lion."
